Episode 15: No Zero Days – Mouyyad Abdulhadi
Today I spoke with entrepreneur, business owner and marketer Mouyyad Abulhadi. We got down to the nitty gritty parts of what makes his day tick.
Mouyyad spends a lot of time working on passions inside and outside of his 9-5. Although different requirements are necessary for his work, his habits don’t change much across them.
We discussed what the zero day concept means and why priorities can be more difficult than you think.
“If I go to sleep and I haven’t taken an action towards my ONE project, then it’s a failure of a day for me honestly.”
What is productive to you?
“I just always had this no zero days policy” – complete at least one component around one major project every single day. Everyone can pick one project and do one activity that pushes that forward, that’s not too much to ask.
2. How do stay focused on your path to results on a day to day basis
There is a lot of internal drive to want to accomplish things that helps me stay focused. A also love an app called Wunderlist to help me keep my important projects in one spot. If it doesn’t make it on Wunderlist, then it’s not really a project!
3. When challenges arise (distraction, change, confidence) how do you deal with it?
Everyone has had the experience of being online and getting sidetracked by something and funny or entertaining. The real challenge is not the small things like that, but when there is a shift in priorities.
That’s why multi-tasking is basically useless. If you don’t have focus, then how do you really make decisions on what is priority? When you stay flexible and understand the 1-2 things you are working on, it makes it much easier to understand what can and cannot be shifted.
4. Who keeps you accountable?
Everyone wants to keep you accountable – and that’s jus the world we live in today. But the quality of my work is important to me so also keep myself accountable with the no zero day policy mentioned above.
5. What’s the one thing you would tell the listener to do tomorrow if they could only pick one?
Pick one thing to work on and get a little part done, everyday. That simple.
